A very good question indeed! Has the 'athleisure' storm taken over the bullish run Jeans have had for decades? While the style gurus argue that athleisure could just be another trend that will be out in some time like those ugly-@$$ crocs the numbers tell a different story.

Recently covered in the Economist, Levi's topped annual revenues in 1990s to $7bn but came down to $4bn a decade ago in the late 2000s. Recently, however, the company has introduced new styles and have also revamped its supply chain while still not moving away from Denim and tarnishing its brand name in any way. Sales have been growing in parts of Europe and even the direct-to-consumer sales are on the rise in US.

Why did we cover only Levis and declared that the Denim continues to reign supreme? Because Levis is the original and a rise in business for Levis would mean a rise in business for other denim brands if they continue to stick to their roots.

We have covered both Jeans and Joggers in the past if you are interested to know more, do check those articles out. And before you leave, below are some of Urban Purush's favorite Levis recommendations,

Continuing the Urban Purush's series on Hoodies, let's talk about the different types of hoodies available out there. We have gone over the history of hoodies already and you can check that article out first to get a hang of the hoodies!

For the rest of us, lets get into the thick of things with the different types of hoodies available out there. Make use of these hoodies based on the occasion,

1. Pull over hoodie: There is no zip in the front in the pull over hoodie. It is more common amongst the students and the shape is loose so it’s easy for you to pull it on

2. Zip up hoodie: With the front zip for extra swag and comfort. These can be more slim fitting and is thus a good choice if you don't have the extra midsection flab to hide

3. Half zip hoodie: These are least common but a good half way house between a pullover and a zip up. Has a zip from your neck to the middle of your torso, giving you more room to pull your hoodie on, and meaning it can be a little slimmer fitting

So those are three types of hoodies you can find in the market if you are up for buying one. Which one would you prefer?

In this series of articles, Urban Purush aims to put an end to all your queries and everything that you must know about the good ol' Hoodie. Lets begin with answering how the hoodie came to be.

The word Hoodie comes from the word 'Hood' which basically has the same roots as the English word 'Hat'. Makes sense right?

Hooded garments have been around for centuries and while they are typically more common among students in the present day, they were actually the clothing of the monks in the beginning. As years went by, the outdoor workers found safety and protection from cold in the form of hoodies. But come to 1970s and that is when the hoodie hit the mainstream. The hip hop culture in the US and an appearance in the 1976 iconic blockbuster 'Rocky' brought hoodies out on the streets.

Soon hoodies would come with university logos and turned into a statement of academic spirit. Mark Zuckerberg always sports one since his Harvard university days.

It is only fitting that what started as something monks would wear is now something that students usually sport.

We have more on hoodies in the coming articles so stay tuned and don't forget to let us know what you would like to learn about hoodies.

Alright gents, its summer time, the sun is shining bright and the temperature is soaring. You as a stylish gent, as an Urban Purush, want to dress better, take your game to the next level. But pulling off a suit in the scorching heat could be a bit too much. What is the next best thing?

The next best thing is a Sports Jacket. Pairing it up with Jeans has been very popular for some time now. It is super versatile, meaning you can run a Friday board meeting in it and you can also chill out with the boys at the local bar in it. The Jeans and Sports Jacket combo is easily going to drive you home out of all situations.

Consider Urban Purush's top 7 tips to ensure you are crushing it every time when it comes to this style,

1. The first tip is actually a 'style don't'. Don't try to pair your suit jacket with jeans especially if that is your only suit. Your suit needs to be ready at all times and shouldn't be paired separately as it may lead to it being worn out. Same applies to those suit pants

2. Look into the patterns available out there. This will not only help your sports jacket stand out but will also ensure it doesn't look like a suit jacket. Consider herringbone, birdseye, stripes or checks

3. Make sure you are buying the right jeans that suit your body type. Skinny jeans would suit a much more fitting jacket than something on the looser side

4. While your jeans are mostly blue, you can always experiment with the color of the sports jacket. Grey, black, tan, navy almost anything will work. Just avoid a color similar to your jeans, you don't want to give out an impression that you are trying to put together a suit

5. When it comes to shoes, and we hope you are not committing the single biggest men's shoe sin, this is where formal shoes can be made use of. But if you want to avoid the major work of making sure the formal shoes look good on jeans you can always bring in leather loafers, monk straps, or chelsea boots. Casual sneakers might not work well, avoid if possible

6. When it comes to upperwear, you can definitely pull off a round neck or even v-neck tee. A polo t-shirt can do wonders but nothing like a formal long sleeve shirt. The long sleeve shirt will compliment the entire outfit much better and complete your look

7. Time and again, Urban Purush has taught you that accessories maketh the man! Sports jackets and jeans is no different. Try to bring in the details with a solid pocket square, a metal chronograph or even a slim tie

Curated looks:

Gentlemen, Sports Jacket and Jeans is definitely an outfit that is a step above the average. It might not be totally formal or casual but it is just about right for all occasions.

You are probably thinking that pink isn't even a color for men, why would you want to know how to wear one?

Well gentlemen that is where you are wrong! Pink wasn't created with the venusians in mind. It was created just like other colors and you have just as much right to wear it as women. Infact, one of our favorite websites, Lookastic has provided a brief history of pink that you must definitely go over!

Excerpt from Lookastic
If anything, pink was initially considered masculine, because it was a diminutive of red, which was associated with war and power. That's why, as a paler shade of red, pink was widely used for boys' clothing.
By the late 19th century, however, with the popularity of Freud's and other psychologists' theories of infant development, parents were encouraged to differentiate their children's gender from an early age.
While variance continued for some time, with some parents favoring pink for girls and blue for boys and others doing the opposite, by the 1950s pink became strongly associated with femininity. Clothing manufacturers were also happy to promote this idea: if parents had a girl and then a boy, they couldn't hand down the pink clothes and would have to buy a whole new wardrobe for the boy.
The feminist movement in the 60s and 70s added to the perception of pink as a feminine color by tying pink to traditional girliness.
As a result, the unisex trend caught on with liberated mothers dressing their daughters in neutral colors.
As with all trends, gender marking colors replaced neutral ones again by the end of 1980s. The resurgence of pink clothing for girls and blue for boys is partly explained by the fact that parents, who were brought up in unisex clothes in the previous decade, now wanted strongly gender coded clothing for their own kids.
Fast forward to 2016, pink becomes androgynous with the so called 'millennial pink' showing up everywhere, which is not actually a color, but rather a trend for a range of colors from pale pink to salmon.

Gentlemen, summers are here. Its time to update the wardrobe and make it more summer friendly. Here are the 5 clothing items that need to be available at a hand's distance to make sure you are summer ready

1. Tees

The basic cotton tees, be it solid color or graphic, be it crew or v-neck, are your best friends for summer. These tees will come in handy when you want to throw in an outfit together in a minute and not worry about the scorching heat outside. Summers are also the best time to experiment a bit on the color front and introduce lighter shades of green, blue and some more otherwise pop colors. How to rock the tee? There you go!

2. Shorts

The lightweight shorts are your go to items to pair with the solid tees. What's the better time to give your jeans some rest and board the shorts train than summers. We have already got you covered when it comes to getting the shorts right!

3. Cotton Long Sleeve Shirts

Although solid tees are good for weekends and maybe even casual fridays, you have to appear dressed up in the office for the rest of the days and that is where long sleeve shrits come into the picture. The softer fabric paired with lighter version of colors like grey, blue and even pink is what you should be looking forward to

4. Linen Pants

Don't these have summer written all over? Linen is one such fabric that will help you feel home no matter how hot it is outside. These are mostly acceptable in office environments until you are expected to be 100% formally dressed throughout the year

5. Sneakers

Although there isn't a formal summer shoe, there definitely is a casual cousin in the form of sneakers. Be it the classic canvas or the softer foam, its time to forget those boots and double monks, sneakers are the way forward in summers

So gents, don't run away from summer, get ready and say hi to your amigo - the sun!

Gentlemen, continuing on our coverage on men's jeans from the different types of jeans fit to tackling the question of should you be wearing skinny jeans, today we address the top 3 best kept secrets around jeans. Questions that must have hit your mind but you never found any answers to. So lets get the ball rolling,

1. Why are jeans called 'jeans'?
Great question! Infact when they started off, jeans were called 'waist high overalls'. However, jeans were very popular among the sailors from Genoa, Italy. These sailors were called Genes and soon their pair of 'waist high overalls' got the name Jeans

2. What is the use of the 5th pocket?
Also referred to as the 'coin pocket' which would probably hint at keeping coins in there, the 5th pocket was actually built in jeans as a place to keep your pocket watch! Yes Sir, the grand daddies of the later half of 19th century rocked pocket watches like only they could and the 5th pocket was the place to store it. Although pocket watches faded, the 5th pocket didn't!

3. Snap button on jeans
So all of our jeans have snap buttons at different places and they don't really make any sense, right? Well, wrong! These snap buttons aka rivets are there to reinforce the key points so that your jeans stays strong and doesn't tear up for years. These rivets are one of the key reasons for the endurance our jeans display through the years

And that's about it. Do you have any question on jeans you are unable to find an answer to? Let us know.

You already know by now that we have you covered on everything about style be it suits or casual wear but recently a query hit the Urban Purush inbox which triggered this article on skinny jeans. And here is the million dollar question - Should men wear skinny jeans?

Urban Purush looks at this question similar to every other style of jeans. As mentioned in the article linked, Skinny Jeans are for skinny / thin men (who are most likely in their teenage). As simple as that!

If the skinny jeans are not super skinny and are infact at the border line of skinny and slim fit then men with athletic stature can pull them off as well. But most likely, there are better options for men’s jeans that will suit your body type than skinny jeans.

A few points to consider before making a decision to go with Skinny jeans are below,

- Skinny jeans are likely to grab viewer's attention to the lower part of body which is going to lead to the top section being perceived as heavy

- Based on your mid-section, skinny jeans may lead to the dreaded muffin-top look!

- Skinny jeans is basically a trend not a classic style. What's common between crocs, square-toe shoes, loose shirts and skinny jeans? They are/were all trends!

Remember to go over our article on the different types of jeans fit for more info! Also, tell us, do you wear skinny jeans?

Below are some suggestions of well fitting jeans, that will definitely work!
