They say that Music and Mathematics are two universal languages. When it comes to men's wardrobe, jeans is one universal item that you will be able to easily rock from London to Shanghai and from New York to Mumbai.

Jeans, although casual, can be easily dressed up or down. Throw in a tee or your favorite navy blazer and the same jeans are good to go!

Every man has at least a pair of blue denim but is it the perfect fit? When you go out jeans shopping you will realize the different type of fits available and may wonder which one is right for you? It is extremely important to have the knowledge of what fit of jeans suit which body type before making the purchase decision.

Before we understand the different type of fits, lets look into the different rise of jeans.
Explore the look

- High rise jeans are worn around the navel. Its best to wear them untucked i.e. on casual shirts and tees

- Mid rise jeans are worn a bit below the navel to allow for tucking in your upperwear. Formal shirts can thus be paired with these jeans for a dressed up look

- Low rise jeans are typically casual and are worn much below the navel presenting a casual fit. There are also drop crotch (or low crotch) jeans available out there that are worn low on the waist. These are saggy at the hips and can be avoided

Now let's dive into some of the most common denim fits available out there,

1. Relaxed/Regular/Straight - These are your usual straight leg jeans with a relaxed fit that doesn't hug any part of the body and have a large leg opening
Who should wear
1. Muscular men that tend to have heavier thighs (all thanks to the leg days at gym)
2. Men that are heavier in the mid section
3. Large men/overweight men
Who should avoid
1. Men with athletic body type
2. Thin men

2. Slim/Tapered - The one thing that defines slim or tapered jeans is that it should not be too tight or too loose. These are slimmer through the leg and have a tapered leg opening
Who should wear
1. Men with athletic body type
2. Men with normal body type
Who should avoid
1. Muscular men with large chest and slimmer legs (all thanks to avoiding leg days at gym)
2. Large men/overweight men

3. Skinny - As the name goes this fit hugs your body throughout from hip to leg opening
Who should wear
1. Men who are actually skinny
2. Men with athletic body type can also pull this off
Who should avoid
1. Muscular men
2. Large men/overweight men

Gents, now that you have the required knowledge, go out and own a pair of jeans like a boss!
