Jodhpuri Pants: From sand dunes to fashion ramps

by - 9/15/2015

Jodhpuri pants are trending these days. Models and celebs are donning it with elan. So being the fashion forward man that you are, shouldn't you be wearing one?

Well, as pleasing as this idea may sound alot of us have second thoughts the moment we actually look at Jodhpuri pants. And we cannot be blamed for it. After all they do look ugly unless you try them on.

Jodhpuri pants essentially looks like the child of Breeches and Churidaar and that is a combination strange enough to give men second thoughts. So just like the regular riding breeches, Jodhpuri pants are very baggy around the thighs but get narrower as we move down and gather around the ankles like a churidaar.

Do note that the Jodhpuri pants is essentially a part of the dress of the Maharajas of Rajasthan and thus considered at the highest level of formality. Pair them up with Kurta and Nehru Jacket or with Bandhgala Suit Jacket. Jodhpuri pants will also look good with the indo-western styled ethnic jackets. Round off the look with Kolhapuri chappals or black dress shoes.

Since Jodhpuri pants are considered formal wear, try sticking with them on festive occasions, weddings and any other ethnic setting.

Avoid casual upper wears with Jodhpuri pants at all cost unless you are a fan of John Abraham's look here.

Below are some of the options we recommend when it comes to your next (or first)  pair of Jodhpuri Pants,
